2018-2019 Rocky Campana Annual GSA Leadership Memorial Scholarship Event
Congratulations to the five local award recipients who have already made a difference in their communities and will be wonderful future leaders of tomorrow! All have demonstrated leadership skills, determination over and above the norm to make change and get things done, a giving of volunteer hours above the school standard mandatory hour total, a clear understanding of the complexity of human nature and demonstrated acts of kindness to all, clear set career goals and a very strong work ethic. Congratulations to Rob and Nancy Campana who continue to honour their son Rocky’s legacy through this impactful and meaningful scholarship fund.

IN MEMORY OF ROCKY CAMPANA
Rocky was a shining star, an achiever and proud to be gay. He had everything in life to live for, including a high profile new job and a family he adored and who supported him endlessly with great pride. It is now apparent that Rocky suffered from depression. We understand that if this scenario is possible in our family it is a risk for any family with an LGBTQ youth. Rocky made a difference in life and as a family we are determined his message continues to be delivered and makes a difference in others’ lives. -Nancy Campana.
Run for Rocky in Windsor helps fund educational programs and speakers in partnership with Gay Straight Alliances in the local school systems. This program is the first of its kind in Canada and is now being looked at as a pilot project that will be taken across Canada to help fund GSAs in all high schools nationally. Run for Rocky also funds the Rocky Campana Annual GSA Leadership Memorial Scholarships and Windsor Pride Community’s Schools Out summer program.
