Program Overview
The impact of traumatic and enduring adverse experience is well documented in mental health and social science research. The consequences of such experience influence individuals, couples, and families in deleterious and detrimental ways including physical malady, emotional dysregulation, relational discord and breakdown, financial instability, community and societal marginalization.
Psychotherapeutic modalities have responded as a vehicle to promote coping, healing, and the development of post-traumatic growth and resilience in an ever increasingly stressful world. Recently, a rekindled interest in the body and somatic psychotherapy has offered new options to approach the stabilization of an overwhelmed autonomic nervous system, to re-process traumatic and adverse experience, and provide the foundations of resilience in the face of persistent life stresses. This two-day training program is appropriate for those in a clinical capacity providing psycho-therapeutic intervention with children, youth and adults with trauma events stemming from childhood, relationship violence, sexual assault, on-the-job post traumatic stress, forced dislocation, enduring deprivation, single event traumas and complex trauma.
Program Itinerary
Tuesday, November 12: The first day of this two-day workshop will present a general review of the effects of traumatic experience and developmental wounding followed by a more detailed consideration of the neurobiological and somatic implications.
Wednesday, November 13: The second day will focus on clinical applications derived from a somatic perspective for addressing the residue of such experience. Didactic, experiential exercises, video and live demonstration will serve to introduce and deepen the participant’s learning.

Rochelle’s Why
Like many people who end up in this work, I come with my own experience. And I think that allows me to relate a lot to my clients and their experiences. A lot of my why comes from my realization that if I could help one person then that could have a ripple effect in their lives.
